Gencer Fruit on the Agriculture Aktüel Program
For many years, businessman Gencer Özolu from Kars, who has been buying apples in Isparta and selling them in his workplaces in Istanbul markets, has been producing 5,000 tons of apples and 2,000 tons of pears annually in the 1,500-acre fruit orchard he established in Yalvaç Celeptaş with an investment of 25 million TL five years ago. Gencer Fruit, which processes and packages fruit in the cold storage facility in Eğirdir, is making investments in an atmosphere-controlled cold storage and state-of-the-art packaging unit.
In recent years, agricultural investments in Isparta, known as Turkey's fruit production orchard, have been drawing attention. There have been promising developments in apple production in Isparta, which has seen significant investments in production and the agricultural industry. Gencer Fruit, which used to buy apples from Isparta for 15 years and sell them in its business in Istanbul markets, has filled the production gap in our province. The company markets the pears and apples it produces on its 1,500-acre farm established in Yalvaç Celeptaş village five years ago to all of Turkey from the Istanbul wholesale market
According to the information obtained by Son32 and egazetem.net, the reason that attracted businessman Gencer Özolu from Kars to Isparta is his partner Sucan Özoğlu living in Eğirdir and the company's 15-year history of purchasing apples. Gencer Fruit, which decided to start apple production, established a farm in Yalvaç's Celeptaş Village five years ago on a 1,500-acre area.
As part of a 25 million TL investment, apple and Deveci pear seedlings were planted. Gencer Fruit investments are not limited to Yalvaç. Renting a cold storage facility in the Eğirdir district, Gencer Fruit developed its fruit packaging system there. Pears and apples produced in Yalvaç's orchards, as well as fruits from other orchards, are processed and packaged in Eğirdir before being transported to the company's workplaces in Istanbul wholesale markets and marketed throughout Turkey.
In its fifth year, Gencer Fruit harvested 5,000 tons of apples and 2,000 tons of Deveci pears from its 1,500-acre orchard in Celeptaş. The company's fruit trading capacity from Isparta is 15,000 tons per year. The fruits processed and packaged in Eğirdir were transported to Istanbul by trucks. Currently, the company employs 55 people in Eğirdir and Yalvaç.
Gencer Fruit is preparing for another major investment in Eğirdir. A 10,000-ton capacity atmosphere-controlled cold storage facility will be built across from Eğirdir Zoo. This investment will also include state-of-the-art packaging systems.
