Gencer Fruit at the 'Interfresh Eurasia Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Fair' in Antalya...
The 'Interfresh Eurasia Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Fair,' held in Antalya, brings together representatives from the fruit, vegetable, packaging, logistics, storage, agriculture machinery, and technology sectors.
The fair, which is held at the Antalya ANFAŞ Exhibition and Convention Center and features participants from 44 countries, was inaugurated with a ceremony. Governor Hulusi Şahin emphasized the critical importance of agriculture during the opening, stating that agriculture has become a matter of national security rather than just a commercial commodity. He pointed out that recent crises such as pandemics, earthquakes, conflicts, and climate change have had the greatest impact on food supplies and highlighted the need to view these issues as matters of national and global food security. Governor Şahin also emphasized the significance of water usage in agriculture, as 70% of water resources are used in agricultural processes, and he underlined how climate change affects agriculture the most. He stressed the importance of efficient planning and preventing waste, loss, and quality degradation in the production of agricultural products, noting that agricultural products are no longer easily produced to the point of waste. He expressed his belief that this fair would contribute to addressing these issues and concerns.
Antexpo AŞ General Manager Murat Özer mentioned that last year's fair had 49 participating companies, but this year, with sub-exhibitors included, the number has reached 140. This increase in participation indicates the growing interest and importance of the fair within the industry.
Murat Özer, the General Manager of Antexpo AŞ, emphasized that fresh fruit and vegetable exports are a "non-smokestack industry." He mentioned that fresh fruits and vegetables are of great importance in Turkey's exports, and they expect an export volume of approximately 100-150 million dollars to be achieved through the fair this year, based on last year's data. This highlights the significance of the sector and its role in the country's economy.
The fair will continue until September 30th.
